Ye Olde Disappearance of QuickTime Movies

ok, here is a very simple quicktime movie
http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/~solomon/down.mov
note this plays perfectly in safari, for example.
but i cannot get it to play during a Slide Show.
any advice would be most appreciated!
i'm running the latest version of powerpoint on a G4,
running OS 10.4.11

Hi,

I don't know what's wrong with the movie, but it wouldn't play for me in
PowerPoint, either.

When I opened it in QuickTime Pro it played fine. Then I saved it as a
self-contained movie. Same problem!

So I exported it from QuickTime Pro as a QuickTime movie. That fixed
whatever was wrong and then it played OK in PowerPoint.
