I'd like to be able to drag a section or folder tab into any Windows folder
and have a shortcut to the OneNote section or folder created in that folder.
For example, I may have a Windows folder in which I keep documents,
spreadsheets, faxes, etc., related to a project, and I may also have a
OneNote folder or section with notes about the project. If I could drag a
tab to create a shortcut to the OneNote folder or section, then when I go to
the Windows folder I'll see that I have notes about the project and can
easily get to them.

I do this now by going to my documents\my notebook, locating the OneNote
section or folder, and dragging it to the project folder, but it's a nuisance.

You can also do this by choosing {File / Save As...} and Right-Click-
Dragging the desired filename anywhere you want. When the context menu
pops up just choose "Create Shortcut Here". Then cancel the Save As
dialog. This trick works with any Windows program that uses the standard
Save As dialog. If you want to make a shortcut to the parent folder then
just click the Parent button and Right-Click-Drag whichever folder you
want anywhere you want.

Thanks for the suggestion. I still think being able to drag a ON tab would
be more convenient, but I'll use your idea in the meantime.
