Yet Another Wish List

O

Owen

JAR – great list!

Few questions –

For #6 capturing an entire window, one obscure way you can do this for now is Alt-PrtScrn, which puts a picture of the current window on the clipboard, followed by Ctrl-V in OneNote. (This doesn't rely on the clipping feature in OneNote at all, it's just a windows feature).

Also on #6 have you tried Insert->Screen Clipping from within OneNote? That minimizes the OneNote window to show whatever's behind it and puts you into clipping mode. Whatever you clip is thrown onto the current page wherever your insertion point is.

On #7, are you referring to the security dialogs? Are you getting these when you click on links to web pages? Or just documents?

On #8, I have a 1400 x 1050 screen as well and sympathize. I definitely know what you mean about the "grow page" button. I'm not sure I know what you mean by the ink-dot button?

Thanks for your response Owen!

Yes, I realize that alt-prtscrn will capture the current window. I just
want the added items automatically timestamped and inserted but I suppose
that's just an easy macro away. I hadn't tried Insert->Screen Clipping and
I'm glad you pointed it out.

I'm referring to the multiple security warnings that pop up when I click on
links such as <file://C:\matlab_v13\work\foo.txt>. I only get these
warnings for documents.

As for the ink-dot button, I mean the tiny dot cursor that tracks the mouse
when you are in pen mode. It is a single pixel on my 1400x1050 display and
in strong light is impossible to locate.

One security dialog is normal – the one that says "Hyperlinks can be harmful to your computer and data, etc". Are you seeing more than one of this dialog, or different dialogs.

I suspect it's possible to mark your hard drive as a "trusted site" using Tools/Options in Internet Explorer (click on the "Security" tab), although I couldn't quite get it to work when I tried just now.

OK, I know the ink cursor you're talking about. I agree it's pretty much invisible on our machines. When do you find yourself needing to see it?
