You do not have permission to change the Normal Template

I have a problem whereby in Word, I do not have permission to change the
templates at all because I ³do not have permission²

As a result, I always have to manually change the default from US letter to
A4 whenever I create a new document in Word. This is something I have got
used to doing now but it would make my life a whole lot easier if I could
change it automatically, not to mention being able to create new templates
myself.

I am running Mac OSX.1.5 on a G4 Powermac.

This looks like a permission issue (I hoipe you never ran the Mac in
root mode :-\ ).
I would suggest getting the freeware BatChMod (
http://macchampion.com/arbysoft/ ). You can use this app to set the
permissions to read/write for every user on the Mac.
