You do not have permission...

I'm not sure which group this goes into, so bear with me. First, you
should know there is no security settings on the databases I'm working
with, so I know this error doesn't stem from that. In any database
I'm using, whenever I try to use the Input Mask Wizard, Form Wizard,
or Report Wizard, I get an error message that reads "You do not have
the necessary permissions to use the 'C:\Documents and
Settings\...\Access\ACWZUSRT.MDT' object. Have your system
administrator or the person who created this object establish the
appropriate permissions for you." Then, I usually get booted out of
Access 2002 and it restarts after creating a backup for me. I know
that ACWZUSRT.MDT is a hidden file that controls the input mask
wizard, but why would I not have persmission to use this after I've
had no problems in the past? Better yet, how do I fix it now?

Thanks!

Hi, Andy.
I know
that ACWZUSRT.MDT is a hidden file

It probably doesn't need to be a hidden file, unless you are in the habit of
fiddling with database files that you haven't created yourself. The
ACWZUSRT.MDT file a wizard application and a template to hold the user's
data when certain built-in functionality is used, such as the Documenter.
If you'd like to take a look at it, then you would need to change the
Windows setting to view hidden files and directories on your computer.
why would I not have persmission to use this after I've
had no problems in the past?

Dunno, but you no longer have sufficient permissions either on the file or
on the database object itself. The error message you describe sounds more
like an Access object security permission problem, not a file security
permission problem. However, it would probably be easiest to first check
the file security permissions yourself, though. If you can't change the
setting to view hidden files, then have the Windows system administrator
give you "Full Control" security permissions on the directory that contains
this file and on the file itself. The default location for this file is:

C:\Documents and Settings\<User ID>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Access\ACWZUSRT.MDT

If you already have sufficient file security permissions, then your
ACWZUSRT.MDT file may be corrupted, and you would need to replace it, either
from a backup, from a reinstallation of Access, or from a newly created
ACWZUSRT.MDT file from the master template ACWZUSR.MDT. The default
location for this file is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10

Thanks for the help, Gunny! It turns out I could delete ACWZUSRT.MDT
and Access recreates it when it starts up. That fixed everything
except for an error I get when I try to build data access pages. The
error tells me Access cannot find the database schema and to try to
reinstall or repair Access. Neither one of which helps, by the way.
So, I'm still not sure what caused the problem in the first place, but
I've regained most of the functionality.

Thanks again!
