You were Bcc'd

I'm currently using Outlook 2007 and want to warn a BCC recipient that they
were Bcc'd because they have inadvertantly replied to the email and created
an embarassing situation.

On my Blackberry 8830, there is a warning message at the very top of the
email that is displayed saying "You were Bcc'd" Can this be done in Outlook..

I have already tried to create a rules wizard to pop up a warning message
but its very annoying to have to click OK to remove that message before I can
read the email.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated - thanks in advance!

You're confusing in your post. Are you trying to warn a recipient or are you
trying to create a warning for yourself?
Which warning did you create now and why does it prevent you from reading
the email?

Roady,
I need to have the warning message appear at the very top of arriving emails
in my Inbox where I am Bcc'd. The outlook rule I "tried" to create as a work
around would perform the following: "when emails arrive look for my name not
in the To: field and not in the CC: field and display in the New Item Alert
Window a message "You were Bcc'd". It does display the Alert Window on TOP
of whatver I have open and it MAKES me click OK before I can do any other
functions...very annoying. Thus my request for some other way to accomplish
the warning message....hopefully similar to my BB warning...at the very top
of the actual email "You were Bcc'd" Hope this makes sense?

using Automatic Formatting on your Inbox so that BCC'd messages appear
differently?

But there isn't a way to *know* that you were BCC'd. I mean, you can make
an assumption that if you aren't on the To or CC line, you were BCC'd, but,
that isn't a good assumption, considering most mailing lists don't put you
on the To or CC line either.

And, if you aren't able to look at the To/CC line of the message you're reading
(not you *ben*, but you C.Sharp), why would you notice an infobar

Right, we are making some assumptions here that are not 100% right, but
are probably right often enough for our purposes. And I agree with you
that it's a workaround and not really a solution.

But in the words of the Ed...there are seldom good technological
solutions to behavioral problems.

You can exceptions on the rule for the distribution lists that you are on.
Still not perfect, but yet a step closer.

I've not used Automatic Formatting so not sure exactly how it works but I did
try creating a Bcc automatic formatting filter on the Advanced tab where Bcc
field is (exactly) my email address. I then made the font bold purple but
when I click OK it does nothing to my Inbox. How do you turn this on???

I also tried to find a way to "customize" a rule so that I could enter BCC
as a field to filter by but no luck. I cannot believe MS has not thought of
this before based on the number of websites from people with the same issue.
I guess my company got spoiled by Blackberry warning us before we clicked
reply!

Adding the BCC field is not going to help - the envelope that identifies it
as BCC is dropped at the mail server. You need to do it for messages where
you aren't in the To or CC fields.
