Zip files not displayed when saving attachments

When I save Outlook 2003 email attachments to a folder with existing zipped
files (.zip file ending) the existing zipped files are frequently not
displayed. The system knows they are there since saving a new file with the
same name will produce an error. This has happened across different machines
and with Windows XP and with Media Center XP. Anyone else have this problem?
Better yet, anyone have a solution?

Saving usually filters based on the file type. There is no "all types" in
the Save As dialogue.

Hi Bill,

Unfortunately, it's a bit more complicated. This happens when I'm saving
zip files as well as other file types, but it's only the zip files in the
folder that don't display. Folders and other file types in the folder
display just fine. Worse, it doesn't always happen. I hate intermittent
problems <g>. I can restart Outlook and there's a good chance the .zip files
will display if I try to save the same attachment in the same folder. And,
as I said, it only seems to happen with zip files.

My students send me both .zip and .doc files daily, and I can see the .doc
files in the folder with nary a hitch. I'm sure there's some pattern, but
I'll be darned if I can figure out what it is. The fact that it's happened
now across three different machines makes me think it's some odd software
combo, but nothing I've tried in the past year shed any light on the problem.
Damned embarrassing since I teach CIS at the college. Not much stumps me,
but this one has.

Thanks for taking a shot at it. I'm happy to hear any other thoughts.
