We have an InfoPath 2003 form that helps us collect user input to some of our
applications. The resulting Xml(complete with InfoPath processing) is stored
in a MS SQL database. When we retrieve the stored XML we use a HTTPHandler to
deliver the XML to the client browser (IE7). The client browser, on account
of the XML processing instructions, invokes InfoPath to display the XML data.
Recently some of our users started evaluating Vista (64), IE7 and Office
2007. We have one system set up as explained above with two users using it.
For the one user all works fine. The other user experience the following
issue: When the user elects to retrieve the from the database, but closes the
InfoPath Application before the form is completely loaded, an INFOPATH.EXE
*32 process remain in the task manager even though there is no visual
interface to it. When there are more than 3 zombie INFOPATH.EXE *32 processes
it starts to take a very long time to load the XML into InfoPath (4 min
apparently – can not personally confirm I am not patient enough).
Any ideas as to why this is happening and how/which user settings can cause
this behavior.
