Zoom above 50% blacks out screen

When I zoom to 75% of higher in Word, the bottom third of the page or more turns black. You cannot read the text or see any pictures, images, colors, grids, etc., just black and the red and green spelling and grammar marks. If you know how to fix this I would be very grateful for your instruction. It is very difficult to edit text at 50%.
