Zoom not working with wireless mouse and Windows 7

I installed Office 7 on a new system with Windows 7 and a Microsoft wireless
laser mouse 6000 and the zoom won't work using the control key with the wheel
on the mouse -- it works fine on my old XP system and with my adobe products
on the new system -- is there a way to make the zoom work again?

Have you installed the mouse drivers and checked to make sure that the
button (and wheel) assignments in the mouse Properties are correct?

The IntelliPoint software is probably to blame - it has been this way since
Adam was a lad. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Exactly why
Microsoft Mice do not work properly with Microsoft software, whilst every
other manufacturer's mice do, remains a mystery.

A co-worker of mine just had the exact same problem. (I think the mouse was a
"Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000" or some such mouthful.) What we found was that
the ctrl-mousewheel zoom feature would work maybe 10% of the time; most of
the time the command would be ignored, or it would respond with something
like a half-second delay.

We fixed it by switching back to her old Dell/Microsoft super-basic corded
USB mouse. It works perfectly.

We used the same version of the Intellipoint driver, in Windows 7, for both
mice. The creaky old corded mouse worked; they shiny new wireless mouse did
not.
