GRAMMAR CHECK SUGGESTS A SENTENCE REVISION BUT NEVER OFFERS A SAMP

Iggy

HI. I'M IGGY AND THIS IS MY 1st TIME USING THIS COMMUNITY QUESTION & ANSWER
SYSTEM. I'VE GOT A FEELNG IT'S SOMETHING I WILL PARTICIPATE IN BECAUSE
NETWORKING WITH ONE ANOTHER FR TH PURPOS OF HELPING ONE AOTHER I AM
DEFENITELY INTERESTED IN!

QUESTION: I USE WINDOWS VISTA AND WHEN I WRITE A LETTER SOMETIMES THE
SPELLING/GRAMMAR CHECK POPS A MESSAGE UP SAYING FOR EXAMPLE "PASSIVE VOICE;
CONSIDER REVISING", YET I NEVER GIVES ME A SUGGESTED SAMPLE REVISION OF MY
PHRASE OR SENTENCE . I REVISE THE PHRASE/SENTENCE MYSELF AND SPELL CHECK IT
AGAIN AD THEN I GET THE SAME MESSAGE AGAIN! VERY FUSTRATING.... DOES
ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO GET A SAMPLE SENTENCE FROM THE VISTA WORD DOCUMENT SO I
HAVE N OPTION OF CLICKING:CHANGE IT TO A NON "PASSIVE" SOUNDING SENTENCE?

FOLKS, I KNOW THIS ISN'T A SHORT QUESTION, IT'S JUST THAT I RUN INTO THIS
WALL EVERYDAY! IF SOMEONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS & CAN HELP ME OUT WITH A
SUGGESTION, MY GRATITUDE WOULD BE ENORMOUS.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
IGGY

Iggy,

The answer is no. Word flags passive voice, but it does not offer suggested
revisions.

There are plenty of sites on the internet that offer examples and techniques
for writing with active voice. Here is just one:

We are glad to have you in the forum. It will help if in the future you use
normal sentence case for posting your questions. It is certainly easier for
me to read and a lot of folks consider ALL CAPS in news group post
tantamount to shouting.

Please don't write in ALL CAPS, as it's hard to read and in newsgroups means
that you are shouting.

FYI - The fact that you are running on Vista has nothing to do with how MS
Word works.
