Word 2007 - Thesaurus in sidebar doesn't work

V

If I Shift-F7 a word in a text, I get some suggestions in the sidebar
thesaurus. If I then click on one of the suggestions, the thesaurus reports
"No results were found". This is true for the most basic of words such as
"time". Instead, I am given a list of alternative spellings (e.g. "tine",
"tome"...etc). If I click on one of these, just to test it, those suggestions
also get the "No results found" treatment. This very frustrating.

Apart form all the other awful design changes - I have been more and more
dispiritedly using Word 2007 for two years - this is yet another example of
where Word 2003 worked so much better. While I'm at it, the "improved" 2007
help system is appalling and the nice context sensitive help sytem in 2003
has disappeared.

Heaven save us from the ergonomic "experts".

Hmmm. If I ask the thesaurus in 2007 for an alternative for 'time' I get the
following suggestions:

Time (n)
time
juncture
instance
event
incident
occurrence

circumstance 3 chance (n.)
chance
possibility
opportunity

opening 3 reason (n.)
reason
cause
ground
motive
justification

rationale 3 cause (v.)
cause
motivate
give rise to
bring about
induce

and they are all cross referenced.

The help however is, I agree, crap - though the vba help is better than in
2003.
