Activating Office XP for Standard for Students and Teachers??

F

FISH

I just got a new computer and trying to install my copy of Office XP
Standard for Students and Teachers. I previously had this set up on my
laptop and my desktop so this will be the third computer I'm attempting to
install this program on (Although I won't need it on my "old" desktop once I
install it on my "new" desktop).

Going through the installation process I didn't run into any problems, but
when I went to use Word for the first time it prompted me to register. It
said it wasn't registered yet and that it will only run 49 more times before
registering and gave me the option of registering by phone or internet now.

I choose to register it by internet, but a pop up window came up saying that
this program had already been installed on another computer and couldn't be
installed.

I was under the impression this program could be installed on up to 3
computers. If this is the case, I shouldn't be having any problems.

Am I right about being able to set this program up on a 3rd computer
(especially as I won't need it on my old desktop any longer)?

I tried calling Microsoft, but was on hold for ever...lol.

How can I fix this registration problem?

Thanks...

Because of restrictions on Office XP, you will need to activate it using
the phone method. Explain to them that you have discarded the old
desktop and that you will only use this new one. Also, make sure you
don't use any rude language as they are entitled to close the dialogue
with you and you will not be able to activate it.
