Activating Office XP Professional 2002

R

Robert Schartz

I was running Windows XP Home Edition and installed Windows Media Center 2005.
When I installed Media Center it completely wiped out all my Office XP
Professional 2002 from my laptop.
I reinstalled my Office XP Professional 2002 and when I attempted to
activate it, it would not allow me to, telling me it was already installed
on another
computer. It is installled on my desktop and I am trying to reinstall on the
laptop that I installed Media Center. I have the installation disk. How can I
get it to activate now that I am running Media Center.
The rep told me the product key is a legal copy but no longer supported by
Microsoft Customer Service. What can I do to
activate.

Use telephone activation. The rep gave you correct information but it
doesn't really apply in your situation.

Hi, Robert,

What rep? Did you try using the Telephone method of activation to activate
the product? Was Office pre-installed, or do you have an "off-the-shelf"
copy?

Susan , I have the original Office XP cd's . The phone rep tells me that
Microsoft no longer suports my 2002 version and therefore they can not
activate it. They gave me this site or told me I would have to pay $35 to a
technician which is a piece of crock since I bought and own the original
Office XP . They say it is a legal CD but they can no longer activate it
because it is a 2002. Any suggestions besides paying the $35 dollars to
Microsoft.
