Activation office 2007 professional when starting picture manager

D

DKG Automatisering

Hello,

For one of our customers we installed Office 2007 SBE
during setup we select everything except access 2007

Now when the customer tries to start picture manager, the activation wizard
pops up with a screen to tell that access 2007 is not included in our
version and we can upgrade to the professional edition.
Because we don't need access 2007, we choose close.

Picture manager starts, but all the options to edit pictures are gray.

As far as we know, picture manager should be included in all office 2007
editions right?
What can we do to stop this for the customer very annoying pop-up and to use
picture manager?

I hope somebody can help us,

Thanks,

Hi Marco,

As MS Access isn't included in MS Office 2007 Small Business Edition it's not quite clear what you mean regarding having selected
everything except Access 2007 during setup (i.e. it's not there to choose/not choose). Were you using a higher level edition
product CD? Is there an app/utility on the system that needs the MS Access Runtime package perhaps?

Office Picture Manager is in each MS Office 2007 Suite. Check to see if it's set to 'run from my computer' in the Microsoft Office
2007 listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.

Hello Bob,

I think the customer maybe installed the trial version of office 2007
professional, since it's included with the other editions.
I had a look at the add/remove programs setup of office 2007, and I saw
access 2007 in there but with a red cross, all other options are set run
from my computer.
Maybe I should try to uninstall everything and make a fresh install

Thanks!

Hi guys i have the same problem.

For one of my customers i installed Office 2007 SBE
during setup i selected complete installation.

Now when the customer tries to start picture manager, the activation
wizard
pops up with a screen to tell that access 2007 trail version has
expired and that we can purchase the proffesional edition. When i say
close, Picture manager starts, but all the options to edit pictures are
gray.

So is there a way that i can say no i dont want to puchase proffesional
edition?? and just go on using my Picture manager as always??

Anyways ill keep on searching for a solution and post it if i find one.

Always ininstall the trial software first. Unless (for example) you are
using the trial of Pro and then buy the Pro edition. Anything other than
situaltions similar to that, you could have issues. Actually, if it was my
system, I'd dump the trial completely then install the paid version - but
that's just me.

Hi what do u mean dump the trail version and install the paid version??
Microsoft Office 2007 Small Bussiness Edition is a paid version. It has
Word,Outlook,Excel,Publisher and Powerpoint. It says your current
edition includes these programs. Access is the only one not included in
the package.
And this is where the problem lies cuase thats why we bought Small
Bussiness edition whe dont need Access and the other extra stuff. Is
there somewhere i can email u the screen shot??

You said there is a trial version of Access. I assumed you either had a
trial version of Office Pro preinstalled or downloaded a trial version of
Pro. I've read of too many problems whichever a trial version is left on a
computer and a paid suite is installed on top.

Similar issue with 2003 Office (full version) on a PC and One Note Trial
installed screwing up Picture Manager. Do Microsoft not test anymore??

The other issue I would say - after reading lots of the same issues on
various forums and sites - is if there are so many people "getting it wrong"
then surely Microsoft, as a customer is always right company, should be
looking at ways of resolving it?

Hi uys, I have the same problem.

Situation:

BOUGHT OEM SBE.

Got Trial package from Micro**** and a empty box with a key inside
titled:

Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 (with Office professional 2007
Trial)

I do not need the professional crap.

Installed from the media and inserted the key choose custom but had no
choices. activation crap with picture manager.

Uninstalled all

Installed as trial excluding the access, ran word and put in the
license key, same stuff again trial expired and no editing in picture
manager.

so in short, Bought OEM SBE got key installed once (first time) with
key and then removed access as not a needed componant.
Reinstalled using custom leaving out access.
removed picture manager and reinstalled.

NO LUCK i feel it must be based on that crappy key from micro****!

Anyone know how to fix this.

This is installed on vista business.

Steve

I also have same problem. Purchased Office SBE 2007. Now, everytime I open
Picture Manager an Activation Wizard window tells me that my trial version of
Access has expired and I can not edit my photos.

I have 3 questions:

1 - How do you fix this?

2 - Do you think anyone from Microsoft looks at these boards to help?

3 - Isn't it ironic that the "trial version" expires and causes trouble
right after your free software support expires?

I've already had to re-install Office once after my email spell check
dictionary was changed to French. Then I found out that MS has known about
this issue for months and still hasn't fixed it...still selling a defective
product...now it has a ticking time bomb in it!

I wish I bought an older version...if only I could get my money back!

S

Steve

Hooray !!! Microsoft has finally fixed this problem.

They have created a workaround which requires you to overwrite two of the
Office 2007 files with a new file.

You can get the new file and instructions via email from:

(e-mail address removed)

Please put in Subject: Re: Workaround for PictureManager 2007 Issue

***UPDATE***

MS has developed a workaround for this problem. They will email instructions
and a file to you to be used to overwrite two existing files in Office.

Please call 800-936-5700 and ask for the PowerPoint Support Team after your
case has been created.

Thanks.

Steve

***UPDATE***

Please do not send an email to the technician listed in my previous
email...he is being deluged with requests and MS is missing the vital step of
collecting some basic data from you.

Please call 800-936-5700 and ask for the PowerPoint Support Team after your
case has been created.

Thanks.

When you are using the OEM version of the SBE of Office. The Full
Professional version is installed [including Access] from the CD but only the
components of Office for which you have purchased the licence are 'activated'
- you then have a trial period for the other components - in this case
'Access'. It seems that the problem is that 'Picture Manager' also falls into
this category. However, Picture Manager is not listed as a part of Office on
any of the 'whats in which version' charts - hence the question.
