I was trying to validate my copy of Office XP Professional Special Edition,
Version 2002 in order to download Windows Live Local for Outlook (Beta). The
download is found on
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...98-EAB4-40A3-B7EC-43C09D6AE8CB&displaylang=en.
The download page took me through the validation process, which resulted in
the following message.
“Below are the results of the latest validation attempt. If one or more of
the Office suites installed on this computer fails validation, the computer
cannot qualify for the benefits of genuine Office. In the event of a failed
or incomplete validation, see the Steps you can take section that follows the
results.
Microsoft Publisher 2002
Microsoft Word 2002
Microsoft FrontPage 2002
The product(s) listed above completed validation. However, as a result of
the failed or incomplete validation(s) listed below, this computer is not
eligible for the benefits of genuine Office. Remove the application(s) that
failed or could not complete validation and run the validation tool again.

Microsoft Office XP Professional: Validation Incomplete: Office Must Be
Activated
The validation process could not be completed because your copy of
Microsoft Office has not been activated.
Activate Office now. Start any Office application. The activation wizard
will walk you through the steps required to activate Office. For additional
instructions, or if you have problems activating Office and Office
applications, visit knowledge base article #828958. To learn more about
benefits of product activation, visit the How to Tell site.â€
I tried all of the methods suggested on the above webpage. Every time I
tried to run the Activation Wizard, it told me that the program was already
activated. I tried this for not only the Microsoft Office XP Professional
program but also all of the programs included in the suite. I even
reinstalled Microsoft Office XP Professional by going to "Add or Remove
Programs" in my Control Panel and clicking on click here for support
information and then clicking repair. This did not solve the problem either.
Microsoft email support suggested that I call the Office Activation team at
(888) 652-2342. This resulted in listening to recorded instruction that
suggested that I do the things that I already had done.
I have been running the program for many years and have had full
functionality. This is the first time I have had any problem like this. Any
suggestions?
