Removing and reinstalling Outlook won't help a bit. You'll still be left
with the same Outlook profile.
To create a new "profile" in IMO, quit Outlook, export then delete this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles\Microsoft Outlook Internet Settings
Restart Outlook. It will create a new profile automatically. It will have a
brand new PST file as its default. You can then open your other data file,
copy what you need from it, then close it.
I'm returning after a short illness, sorry for the delay.
The above steps did not resolve the problem :-(
I did get a new profile, at least my contact folder and inbox were
empty when I restarted Outlook98. I manually added one entry to the
contact folder and then tried to compose a new email message using the
name for that contact in the to: box and still no autofind of the
email address.
I did find that there was one name I could put in the to: box and upon
exiting that field it would get underlined. That name is the single
name I have in an instance of Outlook Express address book I have on
this machine and it seems to be in a address book "Main Identities
Contacts".
