animated gif

There's an animated gif image just above the blinking test.

I think you have a browser problem.
Right click any .gif image on your machine and select Open With.
Click other.
In the panel that opens, scroll down to Internet Explorer
and select it by clicking on it once.
Make sure the "Always use this program" box is "Unchecked" and then click OK.

This will add the .gif extension to the file types that will display in Internet Explorer.

Hi Steve

I've tried associating GIF with IE but still no joy

I have even tried recreating the web site from scratch, just in case
anything was wrong there, but still not working

Is there anything else you can suggest?

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated

Dave

Some browser pop-up blockers may think animated gifs are pop-up ads, try
turning off your popup blocker.

Thanks for feedback

Have tried with pop ups disabled but makes no difference

I can't be sure of this but the last time I had an animated GIF on my web
space (which worked fine at the time) was prior to installing XP SP2. Is it
possible that has caused a problem with IE6

I know the GIF is OK because it works in FP2000 preview (via preview tab and
preview in browser) and also when I associate the file with IE, open with in
windows explorer

I am going to try and save the file as an AVI in ULead GIF Animator and see
if that works. The file size will be much bigger but if I can keep that down
to something reasonable at least I'll have the animation on the site

If you have any suggestions please let me know, but in the meantime thanks
again to all who posted on this thread for your time in trying to resolve
this for me

Site now contains an AVI file to display animation (although this GIF problem
is still bugging me) Compressed to 730Kb it is about 3 times larger than the
GIF at least I have the animation I wanted. Will just have to be stingy on
some of the other content which I have removed to revamp

If you want to take a look it's at:

Do you have IE set to show animations?

Also timed it - 6 seconds, Don't want it on there forever, as I said
previously it will do for now. Site is not high volume, just personal web
space and for friends, family and some fellow ex Airborne soldiers I keep in
touch with

Would still like to resolve this GIF problem if I can as I don't appear to
be able to view animated GIFs on other sites either

Thank you for your help

Rob Giordano \(Crash\)

has to be an issue on your machine because I saw it animated, but there was
abt an 8 sec. time lag between frames.
