Automatically empty 2 or more "Deleted Items" folders

I am using Outlook 2007 (in Office 2007). (Windows XP Pro SP 3 – fully up to
date with all updates and patches).

I am very picky about the cleanliness and organization of my folders.

I can't figure out how to empty 2 or more "Deleted Items" folders. I use
Outlook to manage multiple e-mail accounts. Each account has its own
“Deleted Items†folder. When I check e-mail in account #1 (default account),
#2 or #3 and I delete an e-mail from its “Inboxâ€, it goes into its respective
“Deleted Items†folder. When I exit Outlook, the “Empty Deleted Items on
Exit†seems to only works on the Default account. How do I get it to work on
multiple accounts, for multiple “Deleted Items†folders?

The only way I can empty the other (account #2 or #3) “Deleted Itemsâ€
folders it to perform a right click on the “Deleted Items†folder and select
Empty “Deleted Items†Folderâ€.

So presumably you either have separate pst files for each account or you are
not using POP accounts? (AFAIK, and I use Outlook 2007) the function to have
each account deliver email to a specific folder as opposed to the general
Inbox folder does NOT set up separate Deleted Items folders for each
account...

Yes, I have seperate PST files for each account (Work, Personal, Family,
Junk, etc.). They are POP e-mail accounts and e-mail sent to each specific
address goes into its respective "Inbox".

For the sake of trial - let's just look at my 2 main accounts (Work &
Personal).
Both are POP and they both have seperate profiles. Both have seperate PST
files.

When you open an Outlook Profile only the account and data file in that
Profile is open - the other Profiles/accounts/data files are completely
seperate and unconnected.
The Empty deleted items on exit, is an option that need to be set on each
Profile, it will only work if that Profile is opened
If it is set (in each Profile), and not working then thats another issue

So as per your reply to DL you have separate Outlook Profiles? If so you can
only open one profile at a time, therefore the emptying of the Deleted Items
on exit must not be checked.

Gordon - sorry for the mistake. I was multi-multi tasking. I do NOT have
seperate profiles. Only 1 profile. I have seperate PST files.

I think you'll find that the "empty Deleted Items on exit" ONLY applies to
the default delivery location, and you can only have ONE pst file as the
default delivery location. (AFAIK....)

I have tried and tried to resolve this issue and can't find a satisfactory
solution.

Well, If you could report this, I'd appreciate a fix.

Why do you need separate pst files for each account?

He's using the Inbox/Sent Items redirection capability of Outlook 2007 to
keep his data straight. I think Microsoft should extend the automatic
emptying of Deleted Items to the individual PSTs as well.

I think this would be a great suggestion to make to Microsoft. Have you had
Outlook 2007 for 90 fays or less? If so, you should contact Microsoft and
request that they extend the Inbox/Sent Items extra features Outlook 2007
introduced to covering automatic emptying of the PST-specific Deleted Items
as well.

I think you mean they have separate PSTs, but you're using only one profile.

I need seperate PST files so when I sync to my work laptop, my personal
e-mail isn't on it. Also, I like to keep my work and personal seperate. I
limit my PST archive files to ~2GB (yes, I perform monthly maintenance on the
files to eliminate the extra crap and reduce the size) and break them down
into years. Then, they get backed up and filed by year.

What is also nice is that work goes to the work folder and personal goes to
the personal folder. But, they both share the same calendar ... which syncs
to my phone. So, my desktop and laptop sync and then backup to seperate
folders on my backup drives (yes, 2 backups on 2 drives - incase 1 goes down)
and then my desktop syncs to my phone. If something goes down (which it
has), I'm Definately covered (and I was)! lol

Not only am I extremely well organized, I also have a great backup schedule
/ system. Everything syncs 2x/day and backs up in the middle of the night
(some things backup 2x/day). I am also a part time IT guy.

Were I you, I'd use separate profiles and really keep them separate.

If you had separate Profiles for each account, you would have the delete on
exit option functioning. You would have to do something more to sync your
calendars.
There are always compromises in the various types of setup, its a matter of
which is best suited to your circumstances.

Brian - thanks for the great feedback and understanding of how I'm using
Outlook.
I understand that seperate profiles would be good, but that would be a pain
to keep logging in and out to check e-mails from other accounts. This way,
I'm notified. Isn't this the reason why they created this feature? And, for
some reason, if I need to reply to a work e-mail from my personal account, I
can just click the account drop down button in the send window and choose
which account to reply from.
I've had Office 2007 for less than 90 days and I'll make the suggestion.
