Can I ask, what's your opinion of the 27". Do you find the screen
feels a bit too big.

I have a 24 inch iMac and I really like it's size, but I'm not sure I would
like the 27 inch. I would advocate for having dual screens rather than one
that's humongous in size. If you find you frequently have to move windows or
switch spaces, I would go with a smaller size and a second monitor. You can
still get the 24 inch on the Apple Store as refurbished and possibly other
sources have one. Personally, I like the 24 over my older 20 in screen.

Considering you already have a display, I would use it as a second screen
and go for a smaller size. Once you have dual monitors you'll wonder how you
ever lived without them.

Kerry, the 27" is awesome?
But life is trade offs. The one nuisance is that text comes out small and this issue in this thread.

Diane, did not understand you 2nd sentence.
KM is doing a great only thing I realized is that 50% of time I use the mouse to do New message/reply message and KM cannot help with that.

You have to learn to use the shortcut. KM can¹t think for you.

Thanks Corentin. Yes, I got a number of hits but realized it was Peter
N Lewis as there's another famous Peter Lewis. Anyway, interesting
guy. He must work very hard I'm guessing to do all he does with his
website, code for the current UI etc etc. Very interesting.

Hey Diane, that's interesting you have the 24". I believe it has the
same pixel resolution as my 23" which I love. I had a brief stint back
in 2006 with a 20" iMac and I thought this was the greatest. However,
once the Intel portables came out, I went back to that as I thought
that's what I needed as I had always used a portable not quite
realizing I had just used an iMac for 6 months and hadn't missed the
portable. That's because I do so much on my handhelds now. When I got
the 23" I went wow this is even nicer than my 20" and it was the
perfect size for my desk.

Your comment about dual monitors is very interesting. A guy at
apple.com said go with the 21.5 as that's really all I need and I
could even use my 23" with it. Honestly, something like that had never
crossed my mind. It certainly is an option. I don't know with what I
do that I'd need this but its definitely an interesting concept. I've
seen this in banks and traders rooms and I can definitely see what
they are doing that makes it handy. My friend, who was my roommate at
university, is a CA and he told me he has worked with dual monitors
for ages. So thanks for pointing that out to me as it really is an
option I hadn't even considered.

Kerry, the 27" is awesome?
Yes, I'd say the consensus that I noticed at apple.com to my question
was that the 27" was awesome but a number of people did say for what I
do which involves no gaming or heavy duty graphics intensive apps the
21.5 is more suitable. The one thing I find interesting in your note
is the text size. One person said that I think per square inch on the
27" there's 120 pixels and the 23" there's 98 pixels. My text size is
great but he mentioned and I think I saw this elsewhere is some find
the text a little too small on the 27". Since so much of what I do is
writing, this is something to really consider. Again, its something I
did not pick up when I was looking at these two units side by side but
would be important to me. I think the fellow said the 21.5 is 109
pixels per square inch so the text is larger.

The one thing that is delaying any buying decision these
considerations a long with I really think for the couple hundred extra
I'd want the i7/5 processor. Although I don't need that horspower now,
I always find eventually these things get used with time. That's not
available on the 21.5" but I suspect by next summer they'll release
one that has the processor. I just keep reading all these reviews and
it does seem to pack a performance hit which I'd like. So I'd like a
machine with that and 8 gigs of memory. Your point around text size is
very important. I think I'll go down to the Apple Store and bring up a
word processor in each and just write and see how it strikes me. When
I was comparing the two this is something I never thought of doing. I
did a number of other things like launching apps to see what
performance was like, positioning things on the screen to see how that
extra real estate would benefit me etc.

In terms of your KM question, Diane is best to answer that but I would
think it would just be a macro that invokes the reply command and then
a windows move command and then way you'd go.

Karry, yes, text thing is an issue. I'm having to resize all word and excel documents to 125%.

I don't do any gaming, so the basic 27" was fine.

But I'm a photogrpaher, so the glorious huge screen is worth it.

I posted a screen shot that combines the new reply with move the window.

Your comment about dual monitors is very interesting.

It's one of those conveniences you don't know what you are missing until you
have it available.

I like to keep the Activity Monitor open when I'm doing certain tasks and I
can keep it on a second monitor while I'm working on my main screen. Even
the Entourage Progress window can be placed on the second monitor. In GoLive
I like to keep the site window on the second monitor and work on the
individual pages on the main window.

Kevs, for photography you would probably really like a second monitor too in
spite of the fact you have the huge 27" screen.
