Comcast Business Class email exchange settings for Entourage 2008?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange Our company recently signed up with Comcast Business & we are trying to configure the hosted exchange email accounts they provide with Entourage 2008 on our Macs.

Comcast only provides info on their help site for configuring the accounts as IMAP using Entourage 2004. I have been able to connect using IMAP but of course would prefer to set it up as an Exchange account. I have also been able to connect through Apple Mail which auto configured my account as exchange 2007 but we would prefer to use Entourage.

Entourage will not auto-configure (I think because exchange is hosted offsite & I am not directly connected to server). So I need to know what to enter for:

Account ID: Tried entering my full email as this worked on iPhone & for IMAP settings. Also tried using only the part before the @ symbol

Domain: Entered part after @ symbol (not sure what else to try but I think this may be the part I have wrong)

Exchange server: mail.hmc1.comcast.net (again this worked on iPhone - I also tried it with & without https://)

Public folders server: mail.hmc1.comcast.net??

LDAP server: ??

Ultimately, I'm assuming only Comcast can provide me with these settings but their tech support seems clueless about Entourage. I'm hoping someone else has set-up a Comcast exchange account using Entourage and can tell me what settings they used. This guessing game is driving me crazy.

Thanks!
Melanie

Well no one can guess what the settings are for you unfortunately.
Do you know if it is an Exchange 2007 server??

I'd try the full e-mail address.

Can't guess.
Exchange server: mail.hmc1.comcast.net (again this worked on iPhone - I

Try the same address as the OWA server.
Public folders server: mail.hmc1.comcast.net??

Can't guess.

It should be their job to figure these things out though :-\

If you are on an Exchange 2007 server, chances are that you can connect
through the Entourage EWS version.
You can ask them the settings you'd need to use to connect through
Exchange Web Services (I believe it's an option that's also available
for Outlook, so they might have a clue).

Thanks - yes it is Exchange 2007

I'm still trying to find out the settings from Comcast. I have an email in to tech support...
Can't believe I'm the only person who's ever tried to use Entourage 2008 to access their hosted Comcast exchange email.

I will look into EWS - I am not familiar with what this is.

Then the EWS version of Entourage might be of help.

It's a different method for accessing the Exchange data.
It requires a special version of Entourage: the Web Service Edition.
You can find it in the Download section of Mactopia.com

Comcast is also my ISP, but I sure never even thought about getting
services like Exchange from them. I never even use the e-mail accounts
provided by ISPs (since I'd loose them if I switch ISP).
For something like that, I tend to go straight to companies specialized
in hosting (like 1and1 for instance, but there are many others).

Call them! They should be able to walk you through the process.
