Cube Building problem and MSP_VIEW_RES_TP_BY_DAY problem

Kurte

Hi Rolly,

I try the suggestion but was waiting to see if any changes to the situation
would occur but it did not. The thing that get me is there are no event log
errors and everything else with the exception of the Project Center task
Views is working. This is probably due to the fact that Project does not need
cube building to work.

The View Notifications Service is just not processing the xml files it seems
not to be able to pass on this information to the database server. From my
understanding if the MSP_VIEW_RES_TP_BY_DAY table is not updated the cube
will not generate as this is table that contains the resource information.

Hi Kurte,

Welcome to the wonderful world of "How to Build an OLAP Cube" <g>

In my EPM classes, this is 2nd most requested procedure from students
(1st is how to install EPM on multiple servers)

But once you have the OLAP Cube built, please review the following
thread: "Creating a Portfolio Analyzer" for the remaining steps you need
to complete.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask

Good Luck!

Thanks Rolly for your all help, when I find the solution to this I will post
here as it might help someone else with the same problem. Fortunately cube is
not necessary to work with Project Server.

I said that when I found my solution to this problem I would post what I did
well I did find the solution. This is what I did...

1. Uninstalled Project Server 2003, the Project Server database is not
deleted.

2. Installed only the View Processing and Session Manager services on a
seperate server.

3. Reinstalled the Project Server Front-end on the original server.

4. Installed Service Pak 2a again.

After these steps where completed I went into Project Professional and
published a project. I also had remote desktop minimized showing me the
viewdrop directory on the Server. I saw the xml being droped in the folder
and quickly being deleted.

I then went into Project Web Access, then under projects and click the
project which was published. I was now able to see the task for the project
(previously I was receiving a message that the (There is no information to
display or you do not have permission to view this page).

When to the resources section but did not see any resources, the problem was
that I forgot to update the resource availibility information under
Admin/Manage Enterprise Features.

All have to say is that if you are encountering the same problems and have
not tried installing your View Notification and Session Manager Services on a
seperate server you can give my solution a try, although not all situations
are the same.

Load balancing, server configurations and server specifications are very
important when implementing EPM so pay attention to these very closely.
