Ok, make sure that your local copies of your webs are not stored in folders on your local machine
with a extension of .com, .net, .org, etc,

All of his sites are on non-Windows servers and it appears to be the "std" dialog for non-windows sites
- I get an Edit w/ FP on all of them

All I can think of is either his PC has a firewall blocking FP, or FP is not set as the default editor for web pages (in IE and FP)

|I went to http://www.jimmypowell.com in IE, clicked on Edit with FrontPage,
| it brought up the password dialog box which said "Secured FrontPage on
| www.jimmypowell.com and asked for the User name and password. When I clicked
| Cancel, it opened the home page in FrontPage.
|
| When I go to one of my sites in IE ( http://www.core-ct.state.ct.us/ ) and
| click on Edit with FrontPage, it brings up the dialog box, but it says
| "Connecting to www.core-ct.state.ct.us " - not "Secured FrontPage on ...".
|
| I don't know what to attribute the difference to, but there is a difference.

Compare the IE, Windows Security, and FP Settings on the machine that doesn't work and on the one that does (also any firewall
software settings like MIS)
Try changing the IE html editor to say Word, closing IE , then reopening IE and setting it back to FP
Also try a repair on IE (see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
Then make sure you get all updates from Windows Update for your OS, IE and MS Office

| Let me say this one last time...
|
| IT'S NOT THE DAMN HOST!
|
| I have 4 computers and the edit w/ FP works properly on 3 of them but the
| one computer in which the button was working fine before, is not working
| since the upgrade to office 2003.
|
| I have dumped ALL temp files everywhere.
|
| And oh yeah, it's NOT the host.
|
| The problem is specific to my pc but I'd like to find a way to fix it.

I cannot reproduce the problem with any site, but try changing your
cache settings to "every visit to the page" (In Internet Explorer,
Tools->Internet Options - General Tab, then Temporary Internet Files
Settings button)

There is no "of course" when trouble shooting. There's usually a DOH! I understand you're
frustrated, and I know from sad personal experience that sometimes you've looked at things
so many times you can't see them correctly any more.
My thought was that prehaps FP had remembered the last site you opened, and that it was on
your local machine. Good luck!

That did not work!

I'm beginning to think that I am just going to have live with this stupid
problem. This is why people hate Microsoft.
