Yes I know the difference between an identity and a user. The problem still
persisted after using Entourage under a new user.
This indicates a problem at the system level.
Per your advice a week or so ago, I installed the 10.5.6 combo update. That
didn't seem to fix the issue either.
The next step is to do the "Archive & Install"
"Archive and Install" moves existing system files to a folder named Previous
System and then installs Mac OS X again.
Just be sure to check Preserve Users and Network Settings when you select
Archive & Install.
The only thing I've found is that if I delete the com.microsoft.netlib.crls
user cache file then the problem doesn't seem to happen.
Hmmm...Looks like I'm SOL.
Don't give up. I'm very hopeful that the "Archive & Install" will fix the
underlying problem. I've always had users hesitate to do this, but were so
happy when it worked.
