Error -192

Hi Bob..I took the easy solution. For now, I have switched to Apple Mail
as my default mail application and it's extremely adequate. Will keep
watching to see if anyone comes up with a solution that would get me
to switch back. I guess Apple Mail + Address Book + iCal really isn't so
bad...and no bugs!!!!

Actually, iCal has the mother of all bugs! Any reminders that come due
while your Mac is asleep are lost and gone forever! That's right- they
are not displayed when you awaken your Mac or ever. This is widely
discussed in the Apple Support Forums.

But on Mail I agree- I'm coming closer and closer to making the move to
Apple Mail. Its junk mail detection is amazingly good. I just dread
though the thought of re-creating my 60+ Entourage rules that I use for
sorting my mail.

Hi,

I've gone through this discussion and wanted to add my own
experiences. I am also using Panther on a G4 PowerBook, and have the
same error -192 when using Entourage.

I do think that I (almost) always have Safari open, but I'm not doing
any of the things that others mention as possible contributing
factors:
- I'm not encrypting my data
- I'm not using fast user switching
- I've never seen a java script error

Moreover, I have been using the latest MS bug fixes for Office for
some time, and the error is relatively new. It's now occurring
regularly, and requires a force quit to get out of Entourage.

I should note that about the time this -192 error began, I also began
having problems with Word, where it occassionally began to crash and
exit. THAT continues to be a problem as well!

Bob..I tried something different..I turned off my file vault and
unencrypted my home files. Will let you know if that has any effect.

Interesting that I am having this problem with my G4 iMac...but not my
G3 iBook. Hmmm....the mystery continues.

-----Original Message-----
It is with a little sadness that I must report an error -192 that my wife
received this afternoon. After following Barry's instructions carefully
to
trash the Microsoft folder, etc., we went for one week until this -192.

She was using Safari to visit a Website listed in an email, and was prompted
for her email address. When she clicked to transmit her address, an error
window popped up with "Javascript I'm sorry. This email address seems
wrong. Please check prefix and '@' sign."

She closed the error window, closed Safari, then got the -192 as soon as she
returned to Entourage. A Force Quit and she was okay. BTW, I happened to be
logged on to my user with Entourage open at the same time (Fast User
Switching), but that may not matter.

Ed - best wishes on going more than a week before you see a -192!

Dave..I stand corrected..yes you are correct about the iCal bug...I was aware.
But, as that is not an important feature to me personally, I'm OK with it. I
know it's tough to re-create the rules but between the rules and the junk
filter training...I'm beginning to like Apple Mail more every day.
