Fatal error during installation

Fixed!

This worked for me. I had these same two errors installing a different
office product from CD-ROM: "Couldn't find a local cache drive." and "Failed
to get download cache path."

I also have RAID0 drives, as most other persons with this problem.

I copied all files from CD to my harddrive and updated the setup*.ini
section called [cache]. I changed from CDCACHE=auto to CDCACHE=2. I also
uncommented the line "LOCALCACHEDRIVE=C:\". I imagine that setting the
LOCALCACHEDRIVE is the main fix. I then ran the appropriate setup*.exe that
was now on my harddrive and it worked. Running the AUTORUN.INF did not work,
which is essentially the same as running the setup*.exe with the /autorun
flag. Just running the setup*.exe is what worked.
