Fax - Office 2003

I was trying to use the Office 2003 CD. In the meantime, I had downloaded and
installed the 2 drivers - big mistake. When I started using the Win xp pro CD
to set up faxing, it could not copy the needed files. I then deleted the
drivers I had downloaded and the fax setup when very smoothly. In the process
of all of this, I talked with a friend of mine who was also having problems
setting up faxing. His problem was the same but the cause was different. He
determined that he was trying to use two different sp packs. I appreciate

There may be a problem with office 2003...I used to be able to send and
receive faxes all the time but all of a sudden as of 2008, I can no longer
send or received and none of my settings have been changed. I was wondering
if they might have a time limit or something, cuz my computer will no longer
find a dial tone... can anyone else offer some knowledge in this area?

Thanks Mary,
I went to this support and did all the troubleshooting, except I couldn't
access the HCL for the windows xp, and what exactly am i looking for? the
driver or modem? I have the Conexant D 850 56k v.9x DFVc listed only in my
phone/modem device. Can you provide additional help?
