formatting problem

Yep: Just copy it over.

But I don't think that's your problem. If "missing font" were the problem,
Word would simply substitute a different font. If it doesn't do that, that
computer's font mechanism is corrupted (probably in the Microsoft Office
Font Cache).

Try what I suggested.

Cheers

I have garamond narrow on my laptop, which has suffered none of the ills of my
desk top. Is there a way of transferring a copy of that one across?

Hi Astrid:

Have you actually tried what I suggested? You keep saying things that
suggest to me that you have a corrupt Microsoft Office Font cache. It's a
relatively common problem. I have told you what to do about it.

Until you do this, we can't go much further, because it's a necessary
trouble-shooting step.

Cheers

I should probably have explained. Garramond Narrow is in the Font book app on
both my desktop and on my laptop. When I turn off the Bold/Italic option on my
desktop all my documents and current work are fine -- except of course if I
want to do Bold/Italic! Which is seldom, admittedly. However if Garamond
Narrow is corrupted on my desktop I probably ought to do something about it.
If I delete it, can I transfer an uncorrupted version from my laptop Font Book
app to my desktop?
