How do I edit the main spell check dictionary?

I'd try naming the exclude dictionary MSSP3EN.EXC. Did you save
your exclude dictionary as a plain-text file (not a Word file)?
An exclude dictionary is a dictionary with words that the main
dictionary recognizes as being spelled correctly, but that you
want the spelling check to flag as being misspelled.

Thanks again Garfield.

I renamed the file as you suggested and opened it in Notepad, checked there
is only the word 'fro' plus a carriage return and saved it.

Restarted Word and outlook and still no joy, but your explanation makes it
clear that this should achieve the desired result.

Any other suggestions?

You seem to have done everything correctly as far as I can tell.
I don't know why it's not working.
