In Excel, conditional format (font red) referencing another cell?

Has to be said, Conditional Formatting in Excel 2007, whilst it might offer
more features, is alot more complex and counter-intuitive than in Excel 2003.

I have a similar issue. I have a spreadsheet where column C contains a list
of sales reps initials and the row is conditionally formatted so each set of
initials fills the cell with a specific color. ME is blue, SC is green, etc.
What I need is for Column A to match the conditional formatting in Column C
for the entire row. I know how to do it one cell at a time, but that will
take entirely too long!

Valko and experts,
I am facing the same in my worksheet. I did this and it is only for one
cell. I would like to do the same for about 500 cells which is referred to
another cell(s) but put the formula on every cell will consumed alot of time.
I tried to copy and paste the format but it wont change the cells reference
like if we copy a formula from a cell to another cell(s). Please help to
resolve this. I would happy if you also recommend alternatives.

data in Excel 2007? I find that I am having to do each row individually. Is

Yes. In A1 go to Conditional Formatting. Change the Cell Value is
option to Formula is. Enter

=B1="Your Text"

Click Format, Font select the color you want. Click OK, OK.

I need help in doing something similar. I would like to have the font in a
specific cell turn red if the value of that cell is greater than another
cell. For example . . .
In A1, I have 4000. In A2, I have 5500. I want to subtract A2 from A1. If
the result is negative, I want the font in the cell with the result to be
red. Can you please help me? Thank you.

I've tried all the suggestions in this forum, but non has worked for me.

Select A3 and CF Formula is: =C1<0

Format to red font.
