I just solved this problem.

Wow! Thank you :)

Solution: Change screen resolution, change it back. Then resize MS Window.

I use an external monitor and see this on occasion. It seems MS Word does not

detect that the resolution has changed and does something odd to windows. Mac:

13" macbook MS Word: 2008 Hope this works for you!

Wow!

Thanks so much! I have a 17" MBP and have used MS Word since my first Mac in 1990. I've never encountered such a frustrating issue, particularly whenI have to do something quick! I just wasted 30 minutes trying to maximizea damn DOCUMENT PAGE as if I were working in some really technical design or illustration application! You'd think this wouldn't still be happening in 2014! More to the point......WHY? This is ridiculous! I really appreciate your very simple - but hard to find - cure.

Man, that's crazy but thanks so much. I've been struggling with this problem for a long time. One other way that usually, but not always, worked was to close the document and reopen it.
