Main Identity & other questions to fix Entourage

Diane,

I have not done an advanced rebuild, just "Typical Rebuild'.

If Advanced rebuild has a chance of a successful outcome, are there any
specific choices to make or not to make in that process?

Thanks, Dave

If you've exported everything that you actually need - you surely don't need
anything in Deleted Items folder and I'm assuming that if you're trying to
delete remaining messages in Sent Items you've already exported what you
actually do need -

Paul, I had not tried to 'Choose' all folders except Sent and Deleted
(thought it would come all in 'top level'). I just did the above and all
seemed to Export/Import with hierarchy!!! A small point by comparison (as I
am very happy to get to this point!)...
Many Folder titles either show the folder name twice, or have the parent
folder's name added to end of folder's name. Any way to avoid this?

Happy to finally make a step forward!!!

Thanks, Dave

Also, I can't seem to find the option I initially saw, letting me choose to
have the folders have the same name as old ones (w/o -01, -02, etc.

why don't you just create a new identity and import the

Paul, in my lat (10:38 msg), ignore question after "Thanks, Dave"
("Also, I can't seem to find the option ... etc. was typed BEFORE I went
back and tried the 'all but 2 folder' export.)

Wooooo Hooooooo ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I was finally able to get through my non-tech head the procedure to
export/import all my data from the corrupt identity to a new one. It seems
to be working. I will test it for a while before fully trusting, but it
looks GOOD! (none of the bugs are there)

Diane, you do not know how much I appreciate your help and especially your
patience! Thanks too for recommending the '1.3.10' scripts.

Have a wonderful and blessed holiday season. I must say, this experience
'really' helps me focus on appreciation!

Best regards,

If you have a work around for the (very) small downside of the 'double
names' or 'parent folder' name added to many folder names, that would be a
bonus.

Glad to hear you have been successful. Now, get Office 2004 and get ready
for Office 2008. :)

Thanks for your words of appreciation. You made my day!

Happy Holidays to you and all list members.

I just renamed my subfolders. Rather than just "Saved" for the name, I would
use the root folder with saved eg: Entourage Saved, or Ent_saved.

No choices to make. I would make a duplicate of your Identity BEFORE
rebuilding as a safe guard. Entourage makes a backup but if things go wrong
the backup could be corrupted. The Advanced rebuild should work for you. You
will loose some links and you will probably download some messages again
from your server. Use the Duplicates scripts to deal with those. However,
your problems should go away.
