I figured I'd type the error message as shown in the window:
Microsoft Office (enter program name here, same with all different
attempts) 2007 setup did not complete successfully. We are sorry for
the inconvenience.
An error occurred during the installation, and Microsoft Office
(xxxxxx) 2007 setup was unable to complete.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
Everything in the log is fine till it gets to this point:
"Determining ARP entry registry values.
Error: ORegistryKey.GetSubKeyNames failure: Cannot get all sub key
names for registry
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall"

Very similar to previous results. I would prefer not to re-install XP,
or upgrade to Vista on this system to get office 2007 applications to
work. In the meantime I've installed openoffice as a substitute.
I've successfully installed Office 2007 without any problems on a
different laptop - which was more or less a clean installation of XP
Tablet edition.
