MS Office 2007 beta fails to start after installing File Converter

uninstalling the pack did not work.

Thanks for replying.
1) Office beta 2007. File version 12.0.4017.1003
2) When you choose the Save As, what file types can you save to? In the
beta, I only saw pdf and Word 97-2003.
thanks,
Anil

Let's take this step by step:
1. What exactly did you install? What was the name of it? Or the
filename? Best, do you still have the link where you downloaded it from?
2. I am not sure where you got the idea that 2007 can't save anything
but pdf or docx. It can save a lot more than that.
3. Which beta version do you have? Office button, Word Options,
Resources. What does it say under about as version info?
My guess: You downloaded the Compatibility Pack (which is NOT for Office
2007), but downloaded the rtm/final version of it and installed it on a
beta version Office 2007, which would result in nothing really working.

The web page for Office 2007 beta had a download for File Converter
utility - since one cannot Save As
anything other than pdf or .docx, I installed it.
Error: "there is not enough memory or disk space to run word"
50Gb free space, 512 Mb Ram. Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
Unsuccessfully tried these Steps to fix:
1) renamed normal.dot as suggested at microsoft.com. Failed.
2) Tried to start in Safe mode. Failed.
3) Repaired from Control Panel. Failed to start.
Powerpoint also fails to start.
Microsoft is strangely silent. The Microsoft MVPs seem to be at a loss
to fix this problem in the other newsgroups I googled.

This is strange. MVPs are gods sent from heaven and they know it all!
If their their step by step instructions screws everthing on your system
then it is your fault; if, however, in rare circumstances, their step by
step instructions fixes your problems, then it is all due to their
briliance!

There you have it. Pick and choose what turns you on.

Merry Christmas!

You need to uninstall the pack and then repair your current Office Beta
