Harvey,

Did you solve this problem? I am experiencing the same issue, and it's
driving me mad.

Terry, I have the same Word 2007 issues as Diane B and others: can't
select/edit in Word docs; Word Options menu is disabled. I am also getting
occasional error message that windows dll isn't working... Everything works
OK in safe mode as you suggested to test). However, I can't find a solution
in the thread. maybe it is "buried," but can't sift it out.

Would you mind restating the solution that you recommend? I hesitate to
edit my registry as I am not that savvy. Hope there is an alternative
solution. Note: I have Vista and an HP Pavillion laptop less than 6 mo. old.

Thanks so much.

Run Regedit and delete the Word Data Key.

Word Data Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data

Terry, the link that you've provided for Problems Opening Word isn't working.
Would love to have a working version so I check it out.

Harvey or Jeff, Did you try Terry's suggestion of removing and replacing the
Word Data Key in your registry? I am very nervous about messing with my
registry as I'm not that computer savvy. But if it works for you guys, then
I'll give it a try.
