Office 2000 Validation

I was using Office 2000 on my system running Windows XP and had to do a
complete recovery using OEM supplied recovery disks. Although I had been
running Office 2000 previously, I cannot validate it. I keep receiving
messages stating the process cannot be completed. I used the Validation Tool
and it assured me my system is able to validate correctly, but I still cannot
validate it. I've already verified that it is a geunine disk. It was given
to me as a gift in the unopened box with a valid COA. I'd like to get a
number of downloads that require the validation process to be completed. Any
ideas of how to accomplish this?

I downloaded the utility but for some reason Office 2000 doesn't show as a
program within the listing. It's also important to note, which I failed to
do earlier, that Office doesn't show as a program in the regular add/remove
menu in the Control Panel. Nor do the individual programs, i.e. Word,
PowerPoint, etc.. show as installed. All the updates show but not the
original Office 2000. Any other ideas?

What happens if you insert Office cd, does it offer to repair the
installation or install it?
