Office 2000 Validation

If Office is not shown in add/remove, the installer cleanup utility doesnt
find it, then it would appear that Office is not installed.
If the Office cd doesnt autorun, with the cd in, use explorer to browse the
cd then double click the setup file.
Office 2k, at least early versions, did not require activation so I'm unsure
whether the validation tool works on Office2k

I tried that and that didn't work either. I gave me the option to repair
Office but not reinstall it. I've been throuogh that already. But . . .
your statement about it not needing activation caused me to go back to the
file that I was trying to download and instead of trying to activate it, went
to the site where I could download it anyway. And, it worked! I don't know
where my mind has been; any other time I would have tried it anyway, but
since it didn't validate it as geunine I stopped dead in my tracks. Thank
you for the good advice. I'm not going to worry about it now showing up in
the add/remove area. I can do that using the cd and since I'm building my
own system, I'll be using a newer version of Office anyway. I appreciate
both you (DL) and Mary Sauer's help in resolving this issue. Now if you can
just tell me how to indicate that my question has been answered and it was a
good answer, I can consider the matter closed. For some reason, I can't get
the indicator to rate these responses. I didn't think I was that far behind
the learning curve but apparantly I am. But thanks a million again.
