Office 2007 activation issue

I'm getting the same error - it is insanely frustrating. I went so far as to
call microsoft and the simple answer was they see no issue with the
activation servers. So, unfortunately, I'm not confident they are even aware
there is an issue.

Firewall interfering perhaps?

I wish. The machine is 110% completely open to the internet. I've activated
the beta on many other machines in the office with no problem. This one
machine refuses to activate. I'm under the impression its an issue with
microsoft since I activated the other boxes days before this one.

I tried replacing the nic, using a wireless adapter... everything. Insanely
frustrating. I know its just a beta, but a workaround to manually activate
would be fantastic at this point.

I have installed Office 2007 beta 2 and the TR on a computer with Win XP
Home. It worked fine for about 8 hours and now when I start Excel 2007 it
immediately asks me to activate. I have tried about a dozen times, always the
same message: "The product activation system is temporarily offline for
maintenance. Please retry...". If I select cancel, Excel is completely
disabled and I have to exit with Task Manager. My internet connectivity is
good, and I have tried it with firewalls and virus products disabled. It
looks like a timeout error to me. Can anyone help?
