Office 2007 Install Failing on Vista 5308

ShawnG

I have tried several times to install Office 2007 Beta 2 on a clean machine
running Vista build 5308, the install appears to be running fine until it
reaches about 80%, then I get the error message that "Microsoft Office
Professional Plus 2007 (Beta) encountered an error during setup. Error 1935.
An error occured during the installation of assembly component
{97F81AF1-0E47-DC99-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x80070006. I've tried the
install with Windows defender disabled, and I have extracted the installation
files to a directory on the C drive and run the setup file from that
location. Any help / suggestions would be appreciated!

No - 5308 is actually the FebCTP - even though it show beta2. The actual
Beta2 is 5384 - released to MSDN, TechNet, etc on May 25, 2006 - it will be
released to the public in the next 2-3 weeks.

Sorry to say, it isn't, its Pre-Beta 2. 5384 is the beta 2 edition. I wish
they would allow TechNet Plus access to the download of Beta 2 so we can use
Office 2007 beta 2. I also can not use the software on 5308.

I've just installed Vista Beta 2, then Office Beta 2 and I get the same error
message at about the same location each time. If you get a working reply,
I'm sure I would love to know it as well.

I tried again using the Vista Beta two download I believe it is 5384 and did
not get the error.

Just to jump in here: Office 2007 Beta 2 will ONLY work on Vista Beta 2,
build 5384. Vista has had the label beta 2 for a few builds before that,
but only 5384 is the true Beta 2 build.

Thanks, I'm still DOA, I am running 5384 and I have nothing else on the
machine at all. Oh well, thanks anyway. I'll wait for a later release to
try again.

Has anyone been able to install Office 2007 on the 5456 build? Doesn't
seem to work on the current build either.

Yes, installed and is working fine against Exchange 2003. What error
messages are you getting?

Since you had access to this build, I am presuming you are a beta tester.
Why aren't you posting this to the beta news groups?

I have read successes of people upgrading to Vista 5456 from B2 with
Office 2007 installed.

I install Office 2007 in Beta 2 of Vista without any problem BUT I couldn't
get it to install in 5456 until I turned off the UAC. Never got any
warnings, just sat there. With the UAC off the program went in easy.

I get this error number (1935) trying to install on build 5384. Running the
install as an administrator doesn't help. Any advice appreciated.

Which build? Your subject line says something else than your message.

I had the same problem. In another thread in this forum, a user suggested
setting install as supervisor under the compatibility tab of properties for
the install module. That worked for me. Hope this helped.

I think Vista RC1 will be released to the public on Monday (at least
that's what Paul Thurrot claimed). Office 2007 B2 is probably not going
to run on RC1, but it should at least install. To test Office with
Vista, you'll have to wait for B2TR. According to speculation in news
reports, B2TR will be made available soon and to the public. In
addition, it will be a patch for B2, which means you'll have to install
B2 first.

Office 2007 is running just fine here on Vista RC-1. Installed Friday and
have been using it ever since. Clean install of course.

It is hard to say - this is the first build I have wanted to play with for
more than a couple of days. Turned off UAC and the experience is a lot
better. You will see this week.
