What about uninstalling Office2003 and then installing B2TR? Will it install??

Given the time it takes to uninstall and install a copy, I'd like to get as
much insight since I need to use my laptop for work and can't afford downtime.

I do have my own copy of B2, but it is a 500 MB file. I really don't
want to be sending that around.
I am still thinking that it might come back, as the main Office preview
site is still there. I'd just check tomorrow again.

No I don't have the earlier MAY B2 download, I only kept the B2TR release
since I didn't realize this scnenario was likely. Furthermore, at the time I
wasn't planning on replacing my laptop either. AND, I must return the old
laptop to my former employer within a few days. Murphy is alive and well...

- Do you know If I uninstall my Office 2003 from my new laptop, will the
B2TR install? OR...
- Do you have a copy of the May B2 that you can send me, I have my own keys
which were assigned to me at the time! OR...
- ANY OTHER SOLUTION??

I'd try downloading it again tomorrow. Maybe it's working then (I

I've been testing (office 2007 B2) prior to the TR release. I eventually
(early Sept) upgraded to the TR release. I truly have been satisfied thus
far...

A few days ago I purchased a new laptop, and UNFORTUNATELY I've been
unsuccesful at migrating/installing Office 2007 B2TR over to the new laptop,
which BTW is currently loaded with Office 2003. As I understand it, you can
only install the B2TR release if you have an earlier Office 2007 B2 version
already installed. IS THIS CORRECT?? If so this is not the case on my new
computer. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IN ORDER TO GET OFFICE 2007 RUNNING ON MY NEW
LAPTOP.

Thanks in advance,
Gliva

wasn't planning on replacing my laptop either.

Do you still have the B2 download file on your older computer?
I'd try downloading it again tomorrow. Maybe it's working then (I
haven't given up hope yet...)

If so this is not the case on my new
computer. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IN ORDER TO GET OFFICE 2007 RUNNING ON MY NEW
LAPTOP.

Thanks in advance,
Gliva

Hmm, that might work...Copy the (hidden) MSOCache folder (C:\MSOCache if
you have one partition) to a non-hidden folder that has a different
name. Office stores all its setup files there.

What about copying the folders from my old laptop? Any chance thia can work??

Given the time it takes to uninstall and install a copy, I'd like to get as
much insight since I need to use my laptop for work and can't afford downtime.

I do have my own copy of B2, but it is a 500 MB file. I really don't
want to be sending that around.
I am still thinking that it might come back, as the main Office preview
site is still there. I'd just check tomorrow again.

I guess I hit Send prematurely.
Copy the entire MSOCache folder to your new computer (it has a folder of
the same name, so please make sure it is called something else). Then
post back. I'll see in the meantime if I can't find some info on how to
reinstall B2 from the files in that folder, as I have never done this
myself.

Copying the MSO cache will not populate the registry - only a full install from the setup.exe will do that.

|||||||| I've been testing (office 2007 B2) prior to the TR release. I
|||||||| eventually (early Sept) upgraded to the TR release. I truly
|||||||| have been satisfied thus far...
||||||||
|||||||| A few days ago I purchased a new laptop, and UNFORTUNATELY
|||||||| I've been unsuccesful at migrating/installing Office 2007 B2TR
|||||||| over to the new laptop, which BTW is currently loaded with
|||||||| Office 2003. As I understand it, you can only install the B2TR
|||||||| release if you have an earlier Office 2007 B2 version already
|||||||| installed. IS THIS CORRECT?? If so this is not the case on my
|||||||| new computer. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS IN ORDER TO GET OFFICE 2007
|||||||| RUNNING ON MY NEW LAPTOP.
||||||||
|||||||| Thanks in advance,

Copying the MSO cache will not populate the registry - only a full install from the setup.exe will do that.

| I guess I hit Send prematurely.
| Copy the entire MSOCache folder to your new computer (it has a folder

| Then post back. I'll see in the meantime if I can't find some info on
| how to reinstall B2 from the files in that folder, as I have never

|||||| No I don't have the earlier MAY B2 download, I only kept the

|||||||| I've been testing (office 2007 B2) prior to the TR release. I
|||||||| eventually (early Sept) upgraded to the TR release. I truly
|||||||| have been satisfied thus far...
||||||||
|||||||| A few days ago I purchased a new laptop, and UNFORTUNATELY
|||||||| I've been unsuccesful at migrating/installing Office 2007 B2TR
|||||||| over to the new laptop, which BTW is currently loaded with
|||||||| Office 2003.
|||||||| RUNNING ON MY NEW LAPTOP.
||||||||
|||||||| Thanks in advance,

So in other words, this is not a viable option??

Copying the MSO cache will not populate the registry - only a full install from the setup.exe will do that.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Patrick Schmid [MVP] asked:

| I guess I hit Send prematurely.
| Copy the entire MSOCache folder to your new computer (it has a folder
| of the same name, so please make sure it is called something else).
| Then post back. I'll see in the meantime if I can't find some info on
| how to reinstall B2 from the files in that folder, as I have never
| done this myself.

|||| What about uninstalling Office2003 and then installing B2TR? Will
