Office 2007 Pro and .doc files in Vista

Bizarre! All doc files (regardless of version) should be associated with
Word. If docx files are associated and open Word 2007, so should all other
docs. What happens when you use File, Open and select a .doc file? If there
is an error message, what is the message?

Terry - I have an equally odd problem with word. I have Office 2007. Via
MOSS 2007 web sites I cannot open .doc files. When I click on a web page
link for a .doc file it offers me the option of saving or canceling. It says
it does not recognize the file type. I can open these .doc files from any
other version of word. I can open word and then open the .doc files. I was
searching microsoft's site for answers and tried to open a .doc file. Same
issue. I have not found a way to solve this.

I have exactly the same problem. Windows Vista + Office 2007 and ACER desktop
computer.

And it is driving me mad...

Do you have a locally installed printer driver set as windows default? The
templates all available to Word on your laptop?
