Yeah. Right. Completely ESSENTIAL functionality. Philip, I understand....

You're as bad as the rest of us. How the hell did you ever get that one
approved by your Wife???

Note I said PowerBook 17" not MacBook 17"

difference being PowerBook is PPC Machine. AS with everything I always
wait for the new to come out , the break down and get the newest. 2
month later a completely new Platform comes out. Probably by the Time I
get around to getting an Intel Desktop Mac two months later a better
machine will come out with AMD chips.

Hi Phillip:

Don't come here looking for sympathy ‹ I have planned redundancy problems of
my own.

Anyone want a Dell Dual Zeon that literally broke down five days after the
warranty expired?? :)

Cheers

Ahh! but if you'd got that apple Notebook instead and purchased the
apple care extended warranty for about $200.00 more you could have
gotten complete Labor and Parts warranty plus free unlimited Phone tech
support for 3 years more.

I messed up the CD/DVD-RAM drive in my G4-500 10 days before My Apple
care was to run out. Showed the Contract to Local Apple Dealer. he
ordered the part and fixed fee of charge even though the Contract had
run out before it go shipped to his business . It was the date of the
failure that Apple was interested in.

Phillip:

You are quite old enough to know that the User Desperation Gremlin cannot be
defeated by simply extending the warranty!!

I *did* purchase the 3-year extended warranty on the Dell. It failed at 3
years and five days :)

Phillip, you used to be a hardware tech, you know the rules!

Cheers

Yep I was was.

Did you have any indication I was about to fail. Or did you turn it on
at the 5 day mark and smoke start rolling? :)

Well in computer industry we have it lucky at least it will last that
long in the TV industry odd are if it fails under warranty you won't be
able to get parts. and if it out of warranty the Manufacturers charge so
much for the parts that's cheap to dump a 50" Plasma, DLP, or LCD set in
the land fill and buy new that to get it fixed.

Hi Philip:

Nope :) No "indication" at all. It's my server. I cam out of the bedroom
in the morning to discover the noise has stopped!

I now know that "two amber, two green" lights mean "I just spat out DIMM 0
and the OS stopped." :)

Cheers
