Option to display images from newsletters by default?

I hate it when people send documents instead of just putting it in the
message body. Unless there is a compelling reason to open a PDF, I read
the message body and move on. I don't waste time opening pdfs or other
docs people send me unless there is a good reason why I need to open the
attachment.

Many sites block PDFs (and other attachments) at the firewall.

And many people save newsletters.....can't do that if it's embedded images
in an email...

Sites or ISPs? Why or how would a "site" block an attachment sent by email?

2. Users are getting the message that they do not open attachments sent by
email.

A newsletter is usually something that is asked for or subscribed to.....

3. My own experience.

And presumably the same type of exploit can be embedded into images in an
email?

I never have a problem doing it - but 99% of the time, I don't really need
the images included in the newsletter anyway.

Organizations use content filters and antispam/antivirus software to filter
out all sorts of attachments. It reduces spam, viruses, wasted time and

Don't kid yourself. In the corp world, it is more common than you think. In
the SOHO world, not as common since the user is the admin and doesn't have
access to the servers. ISPs will rarely block content - they need to let it
all through (otherwise, there wouldn't be a spam and virus problem because
they'd filter it all before it hit the mailbox.)

Yes, but I don't know of any in the wild. The image exploits were patched
years ago - I don't recall any new issues with images since 2006/2007.

Where is the option to display images from email newsletters by default so I
do not have to click on the display images link?

If the images are embedded, then adding the sender to the Safe Sender list
should allow the images to display without having to click the display images
link.
