Page Banner Problem

Steve

The page banner on my web is not displaying properly.

I am using the automotive theme and the tachometers at the top of the page
are supposed to be spinning.

For some reason on my web they are static.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Did you apply the Theme as a Active Theme, and you have Animation in Pages enabled under IE, Tools |
Internet Options | Advanced tab?

Yes and Yes. Still doesn't work.

Any other suggestions?

I see what you mean when it is compare to an unmodified version of the theme (FP2000 version), can
be viewed at:

http://www.ycoln-resources.com/themes/automotive/

What kind of modification did you make to the theme? If you open the banner image in a regular image
application, then that would kill the animation.

Well, there was this...

I switched hosting companies. When I published the site to the new host, it
was not animated. I have contacted them and they say that it is something on
my end. All other animated gifs work properly.

I really made no changes to the theme.

Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Remove and re-apply the theme.

Do I have to publish once I remove the theme, then apply the theme then
republish? I am working with a local copy of the web on my hard drive.

Or do I simply remove and re-apply in FrontPage?

Because I have previously removed and reapplied the theme, without
publishing in between and it did not work.

T

Thomas A. Rowe

On your local copy from within FP, remove the theme, then Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks,, then
re-apply the theme, test locally, then publish.

Make sure you are using File Menu | Preview in Browser, not the Preview tab.

OK, now that is weird. When I do the preview in browser from the file menu,
the banner is animated.

I re-published with all files (not just changed files) and it is still not
animated on the web.

What is wrong?

T

Thomas A. Rowe

Try this, Open the live/remote site in FP, locate the banner, and then delete, next do a publish
with Change Page Only selected.

Sorry, I can not think of anything else to try. If this work on your local, and worked previously on
your other host, then it has to be somehow related to your new host.

Could it have anything to do with the FP extensions?

Hi Steve,

I download the banner gif file from your site and the link:
http://www.ycoln-resources.com/themes/automotive/

The size of the gif file from your site is 6.17KB. The size of the correct
gif file is 17.1KB. It looks like that there is something corrupt in the
publishing.

My suggestion is:

Please just replace the problematic gif file with the correct one. You also
can download it from http://www.ycoln-resources.com/themes/automotive/

NOTE. Please only download and replace the gif file.(Please use the same
file name.)

Hope this helps.

Well, this was not exactly the answer, but I did figure it out. Somehow the
files in the _derived folder were not the same on the host as the local
computer. I ftp'd the files from my local computer to the host in this
folder only and now it works.

Wonder why this happened?
