Reinstallation of Office XP

S

Steve

Due to technical problems I have had to try to reinstall Office XP. When I
place the Office Cd in the computer the autorun does not work; when I click
on the setup.exe I get "Installation Source product not avaialble. Verify
source available and can access it."

When i try the Office XP SP3 full installation microsoft download to install
I get "Office Hotfix installer encountered a problem".

Hi Steve,

If the Edition & Product name on the Office XP CD matches the name in Add/Remove Programs exactly and in the 'use feature from' box
in the dialog asking for the
CD then your installation may be corrupted. In that case see if using
this utility first then reinstalling helps.

Unfortunately, this has not worked. Same problems as before. Everything looks
the same in relation to Add/Remove programs and the CD.

Basically, OfficeXP Pro was installed and then Service Packs. Due to various
error messages that resulted I then tried to uninstall prior to reinstalling.
I have not been able to reinstall due to the listed problems. I think that
the uninstall has left the office installation in an unknown state. Is there
a dedicated tool that systematically manually removes office files and
registry settings that I have seen for other versions of Office on
Microsoft's web site.

Any other suggestions gratefully received.

Hi Steve,

Did you use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility
link in the previous message to remove the registry
listings for Office XP Pro?

If so, what was the error message you're getting when
you run setup from the CD?
