Solution Accelerator for Proposals

Paul

Hi All
I'm at a loss as to where to post my question about this application. There
seems to be no dedicated newsgroup and it also encompasses more than one
application. So apologies if I appear to be cross posting this question.

Everything installed fine and after several attempt the solution appears to
be as it should except for one thing:

When a user assigns a section to someone for editing and selects send email.
Then clicks save and publish, an error message appears saying that the save
failed but the email may have gone through. In fact it's the email part that
is failing.

I have looked everywhere to see where this is failing and it seems to be at
the SharePoint Portal front end server. There is an error message in the log
stating that it cannot find the application SendMail. As the SMTP service
was not installed on the server (no need as the portal points to our
Exchange server for email) I installed the SMTP service but this made no
difference.
I edited the web.config file in the Proposals folder as instructed in the
installation documents but again this made no difference.

As this is the only part that isn't working I would be grateful if someone
could point me in the right direction. I have also tried uninstalling and
re-installing a few times but with no result.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Bob
Thanks for the info, the folks in that privatenews server don't seem to
helpful, I got the following response to my question, and it seems I'm not
the first to be treated this way:

This newsgroup has been assigned to discuss the Business Scorecards
Accelerator and the Office Excel Add-in for SQL Server Analysis Services.
It is not currently used for the Solution Accelerator for Proposals.

Hi Paul!

Have you checked the "Configure E-Mail Server Settings" in Windows
SharePoint Services?

You need to specify an outbound SMTP server and from/reply e-mail address.

Installing the Proposals Accelerator on a SharePoint Portal Server is not
supported, but should work if you watch your step.

The important issues are:
1) To configure the ContentLibrary.SiteUrl in the accelerators web.config to
point to the correct url
2) To ensure that the Proposals Web Service runs under the same application
pool used by SharePoint Portal Server
3) To set the property NTAuthenticationProviders for the Proposals Web
Service to NTLM

Neither of these issues relate to your e-mail problem, but need to be
configured correctly to enable the accelerator to work on SPS.

Best regards

- B@rney
