Unable to reinstall Microsoft office after installing a new hard d

Dell problem

I purchased a Dell Inspirion 2650 in 2002. The hard drive crashed, and I got
a new one. After loading a new hard drive and re-installing the operating
system, I am unable to reload Word or Excel without an online connection. Do
you have to go online to reload software from CDs?

New hard drive for some reason does not recognize phone connection (not sure
if it doesn't recognize modem). Trying to resolve that separately.

Thanks.

NO you don't need to be online when you are Installing the software from
the CD. In fact you should be offline when you are doing this as
sometimes you may need to disable your anti-virus, anti-spyware and even
firewall!

To activate, you will either need to do it online or by using the
telephone method. Telephone method is prone to errors as you have to
enter long digits in your system.

Do you get any error messages? Is it likely that the CD itself is
damaged?

Please let us have as much information as is possible to resolve this.

No, you should either have the CDs from when you bought your computer or if
it's an OEM version, you can call Dell and ask them how to access them.
