LOL. It needed to (install) do this since you have deleted some of the files that Office 2000 needed. When the install is 100% correct then you will have the option for removal when you start the install. Go and try again. If the install is correct then you will have the Remove option show up for you.
BTW Did you reboot after the install was finished?

4Callanans said:OK - I selected Install and it went through configuring and then I had some
files that were newer than what was being installed, so I kept the newer
versions, then it said I needed to restart to complete installation, did
that, when it booted up again, it said Finishing 2000 setup - completing MO2K
install - - heard it chugging away, then I got the same message as when I
tried to use Excel (1st post) "The application must be installed to run.
Please run setup from the location where you originally installed the
application" (the blue bar said "Office"). I never got the Remove/Uninstall
option.
Any other thoughts?

4Callanans said:I inserted the Office 2K Prof CD- - but it never gives me the "removal"
option. I only get Install and Customize -- how do I uninstall from the
Office 2K Prof CD?
:
You will need the Off2K CD's to uninstall the suite. MS has discontinued
support for Off2K because of the issues that arose with Sun Microsystems
judgment in the courts.
Just insert the same CD's that you used to install the Off2K on the
computer .
and follow the instructions for the removal.
Office 2000 can only be removed with the original installation CD. It
will not remove with the Add\Remove route.unless you want to reformat the
HD.

I uninstaleed 0ffice 2000 via Add/Remove - but when I went to change
original
folder back to Microsoft Office - - I noticed the new folder (that was
generated by installing Office 2000 Professional) was still there and
it is
named Microsoft Office. Thus I am not allowed to change the name to
because
it's the same name as the other folder. Can I just delete the folder
and
it's contents - - can I delete the Prof folder and then rename the
original
Office 2000 folder then run your utility?
:
Office2K pro simply contains components not included in O2k SB, Access
to
name one
The SB edition was generally supplied as an OEM version.
I would suggest you tried uninstalling O2k Pro, either via Add/Remove
or
using the Pro cd.
Then undo your rename of the origonal Office folder.
Finally use this tool http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239938
hopefully that will remove O2k SB. Once done install O2k Pro
No

Do you have the Office SB cd?

OK - years ago I installed Office 2000 Small Business (in 1999).
My
computer
is acting weird and now when I open Excel it does open the app,
but as
soon
as I click on the spreadsheet I get "The application must be
installed
to
be
run. Please run setup from the location where you originally
installed
the
application." I couldn't find any setup file. When I went to
uninstall
Office 2000 from my Add/Remove Programs - it was not listed
(actually
there
are a lot of programs missing). So this is what I did -- I
renamed the
Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) to Microsoft
Office -
OLD.
Then I tried to install Office 2000 Prof. Edition. Installation
went
fine -
but again, the Excel app gave me the same error. I looked at
the new
Microsoft Office folder (under Program Files) and the dates for
the
install
were the 1999 ones. Why didn't it use the install from today
12/31/06?
So I
figured I just uninstall both Office 2000 Prof and Small
Business - -
but
I
don't see Office 2000 Small Business in my Add/Remove. How can
I
remove
it
completely? I thought if I got rid of both, and reinstalled the
Prof
Edition
- I would be all set. HELP!!!
