Word crashes when I paste from other documents

Note that this problem occurs on new documents so is not a corrupt document issue. I am going to try the combo updater next. That seems to be the last possible answer.

I am also vexed by this problem and have basically switched over to Open Office, which does not have this problem. I have the latest versions of OS X 10.6.2 and Office Word 12.2.4. The problem occurs copying and pasting from any Apple application (textedit, pages, and safari in particular). I have deleted duplicates fonts, reinstalled office, deleted the normal template, removed input managers, turned off track changes, and the problem persists.

Holding down shift when starting Word does not matter. Also, trying Paste Unformatted does not work. Word freezes as soon as you click on the Edit menu. I also have to restart my computer when this happens. Word will freeze immediately if I force quit Word and try Word again unless I restart the computer.

Sorry, we have no idea what you're talking about. You're posting through a
screen-scraper site that is not passing on your software details properly.

Well... It IS a "corrupt document" but the corruption is in one of your
Preference files.

Try deleting:
1) User/Library/Preferences/com.Microsoft.Word.plist

2) User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!)

One of those should cure it. Chances are you have upgraded from an old
version (or migrated: migration will munge this every time because the
migrated preferences do not apply to the current installation!).

Word will re-build them when it next starts.

As Bob says: it's best if you start your own thread for a question, and keep
posting in that thread, so everyone can see what has already been done for
your specific problem.

Cheers
