How do i automatically see pictures in message body??

Care to restate the problem? Where would you like to see the images? In
the Reading Pane? In the body of an opened message? What do you see now?
What version of Outlook? Are you using Word to read messages?

Outlook 2007 is full of problems like this. It crashes regularly. I am about
ready to go back to the older version.

I went to control panel, internet options, advanced, then check show
pictures under the multimedia subset. IT WORKS!!!

It has just started happening to me. Was it a recent Outlook update?

Of course, with 2007, using the built in Word as an editor/reader is not an
option. The Outlook editor is no longer available in this version.

In the registry, examine the value of
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\BlockHTTPImages . If it's "1",
change it to "0".

Whatever the sender intended, they did not properly embed the images or
Outlook would have shown them to you within the Reading Pane. This is not a
recipient-side issue. There's nothing you can adjust on your end.

That is so odd so I sent the newsletter to work where I use Outlook 2003 and
it showed the images imbedded as the second sender (me) intended. So what
does 2003 have that was eliminated in 2007?

It is very annoying...I'm looking into another program. You'd think they
would really read our feedback about glitches and accessibility. This is the
21st century for crying out loud. We use MS Outlook at work and I use it
here but there are other programs. Outlook Express is good but MS Outlook
has features that the Express does not have. You'd think Microsoft would try
to make things easier for us, but it seems to getting more confusing and
frustrating for all people of all ages. Don't blame you one bit for your
frustration. Wish you much luck. There are other programs and fixes out
there. Keep looking. Hope you have by now!

This is really annoying. I've been using Outlook and every version created
since it's inception and haven't had nearly the problem with this issue as
this latest version.

I too have people forward messages with lots of pictures embedded within..
Everyone else can see them using other products but Outlook users can't. I
can even sign onto live hotmail live msn hotmail msn live ( a little stab at
MS Marketing there) website and the message looks fine with embedded pictures
shown.. Only Outlook blocks normal usage of email. I wonder how long the
evil empire thinks this will work in their favor? This compounded with the
other Microsoft/Office issues I'm growing frustrated with will drive me to
another email client, soon. This is probably the last version of Office
I'll purchase as I'm very disappointed in this product and the problems I
have to spend my time troubleshooting (with no support from the mfg)..

I'm pretty sick of Microsoft "protecting me" from the villans that only they
can see.. They've killed so much functionality in the name of "protecting
you the consumer" that it's become almost little value to use MS Office at
all..

Sorry for the rant but I'm one unhappy MSFT customer with Office 2007 and
Vista.. Both completely suck.

No, no version of Outlook previews images as does Outlook Express.

My firm just migrated to Office 2007 and I'm having the same problem. I
create a newsletter in Publisher, including images, and then send it Internet
Explorer to convert it into an embedded e-mail message. This worked
beautifully for Outlook 2003, but in Outlook 2007 the images are blocked --
all we see is a blank box with a small red "x" in the upper left corner.
There's no option to add sender to the safe recipient list.

I have no earthly idea how to find let alone examine the registry. Can you
tell me how? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem. I can't see the pictures in the preview pane OR
when I open the message proper. In other words, the only way I can view
attachments of any kind is to click on them to open them, which includes
pictures. It drives me nuts. Shops sending me jog's of stock, where there
could be 20 pics, and I have to view each seperately. What an incredibly
stupid idea. I've tried finding the bit in IE that was suggested above and
have unticked, reticked and unticked the download section in the trust
centre. How utterly ridiculous. When the email is OPEN the pics should be
there just like in every other client.

I have no idea what bit in IE you were told to check and uncheck, but
outlook doesn't display attachments inline - it never has. If the message
has embedded images, such as you'll find in HTML, then they will display
within the message.

Hi Brian, having not seen the "More" link on the discussions group website,
I didn't read one of your recommendations (setting
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\BlockHTTPImages to "0"). So I
navigated to the relevant key in the registry and couldn't find
"BlockHTTPImages". So I added it as a DWORD, setting the value to 0.....

....and it worked!

Thanks, but it does beg the questions: why I didn't have this very important
key and what's changed?

OK folks...never saw that anyone posted how to fix this: I just figured out a
workaround that resolves this issue.

The main problem is that, despite what the Outlook 2007 Help files say, you
have lost the "add to safe senders list" in the right click context menu when
you right click on a blocked graphic. What can be done is this:

1) Sort the email to the junk email mailbox
2) Go to that mailbox, find the message, then click "Not Junk" on the menu bar
3) On the next pop-up screen, ensure the checkbox is checked for "Always
trust mail from"
4) This will sort that email to the Inbox
5) Pictures in the body of all emails from that sender will now display
properly
